Migratory Fish Working Group

Report of the Migratory Fish Working Group for the year 2024

In recent decades it can be clearly seen that trout catches by professional fishermen and anglers have always been subject to the same trend, but have been moving in the opposite direction since 2022. In 2024 anglers increased their catch of lake trout by around 32% compared to the previous year. In the same period, the number of lake trout rising at the Hochwuhr and Reichenau hydropower plants also increased sharply, particularly in the year 2024.

The migratory species nase has been included in the work programme as a second species alongside lake trout. The work on this is ongoing; a first basic report with the distribution and an assessment of the endangerment of the nase has already been submitted.
