Overall Report

Catch statistics of Lake Constance Fishery 2025

The total yield of professional fishermen on Upper Lake Constance in 2025 amounted to 115.7 t (2.5 kg/ha), 5.5 t (-4.6%) below the previous year’s value and 113.6 t (-49.5%) below the ten-year average. After the previous ten years with historically low yields, the fishing year 2025 represents another low point.
In terms of total catch, perch accounted for the largest share with 35.2 t (30.4%) and roach with 24.1 t (20.8%), followed by pike with 13.9 t (12.0%), eels with 8.2 t (7.1%), catfish with 6.3 t (5.4%), other whitefish with 5.5 t (4.8%), bream with 3.7 t (3.2%), zander with 2.6 t (2.3%), tench with 2.3 t (1.9%), and lake trout with 1.7 t (1.4%). All other fish species remained below 1 t.
As a result of the whitefish protection measures set for the years 2024 to 2026, whitefish were only landed in spawning fisheries and in very small amounts as bycatch during the reporting year.

The catch of anglers amounted to 40.3 tons, which is 22.9% lower than the previous year and 16.7% below the 10-year average. The decline in yield is mainly due to lower catches of whitefish and carp, which together still accounted for 24.1% of the total yield. Compared to the previous year, there was a noticeable increase in eel and lake trout catches, a moderate rise in catfish and pike-perch catches, while pike, lake char, and perch catches decreased.
